Meet the Artist
Swiss trumpeter Laura Winter is passionately dedicated to exploring the versatility of her instrument—bridging baroque sound aesthetics and contemporary expression. Her playing combines technical precision with a warm, vocal tone and refined stylistic sensitivity.
Laura Winter studied Modern Trumpet at the Zurich University of the Arts with Prof. Frits Damrow and Simon Lilly for baroque trumpet, as well as at the Lucerne School of Music with Prof. Immanuel Richter and Prof. Huw Morgan for Modern Trumpet, and Baroque Trumpet with Prof. Patrick Henrichs, with baroque trumpet as a secondary subject. In 2023, she completed a Master of Arts in Specialized Orchestral Performance.
As an academy member of the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, and the Chamber Music Academy of the Zermatt Festival Orchestra, Laura Winter gained valuable artistic experience. Alongside regular freelance work with orchestras such as Zurich Opera, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Basel Symphony Orchestra, and Stuttgart Opera, she dedicates herself to both solo projects and chamber music formats.
Since completing her studies, Laura has expanded her musical horizons by performing in brass bands as well as pop and rock settings. These diverse influences enrich her artistic voice and reflect both her openness to new sound worlds and her deep connection to Swiss musical culture.
Currently a fellow of the 2026 OACADEMY cohort, she continues to broaden her musical knowledge and dives deeper into utilizing today's digital advantages connecting with musicians and artists worldwide.
In addition to her performing career, Laura holds a Master of Music Pedagogy and teaches trumpet at both music school and individual levels, sharing her passion for the instrument with the next generation of musicians.
Laura is currently based in Lucerne, Switzerland.
